Post-Summer School blues

I love the whole 4 weeks of Marlborough College Summer School. It's as if the circus has come to town.
Interesting lectures, wonderful concerts from Early Renaissance Ensemble plus Ultra in the chapel to The Candy Girls in the Ellis Theatre; the legendary weekly quiz in the marquee; interesting courses (my chosen subject from a huge array in the glossy brochure was The Anatomy of Antiques with fabulous Antique Roadshow expert and ultimate collector of Charles Wade proportions, Marc Allum) NOT forgetting the ubiquitous coffee and doughnuts in Court.
The town is a-buzz with visitors and locals and there is a wonderful ambience, despite sometimes inclement weather. Available to all – pay if you are not a punter. I usually have friends come to stay so they don't need to share wash basins in College accommodation although I understand the food for residents is very good, there is a danger of overeating!
Over the years I have enjoyed such diverse courses as The Alexander Technique, Divining (Brian Ashton) various history (Cynthia Brown)and literary courses (Fleur Lloyd), writing courses (journalism), walking through historic Wiltshire with Isobel Geddes and AdrianWoodford… John Land's walking courses… and for many years, Paul Cozens superb 'Singing for Pleasure'…. this years 'Anatomy of Antiques' will take some beating. Will you see me raising a paddle in local auction houses any time soon? I think not. I'd be sucked in every time 😂
Today, post Summer School I'm missing the chat, coffee and doughnuts. Rolo and I went for a walk – he's still searching for cake leftovers. Dog Agility next year perhaps?
