Rolo returns to South Devon

This is Rolo’s third visit to South Devon and he loves it here. It’s late September (and I really should be back at school…) and the sun is still shining. Seaweed to sniff, rock pools to explore, dogs to meet, sea to bark at and run into, coastal paths to climb, pubs to sleep under the table and be slipped tidbits…what’s not to love about holidaying in Thurlestone.

Today we walked from Thurlestone to Hope Cove. Last year we abandoned because the coastal path had subsided, making a very long pedestrian detour along the windy road. Thankfully there is a newly opened ‘permissive path’ which follows the fields and puts you back on the coastal path for the steep descent to Hope Cove. Of course the great thing about coastal paths is that when there’s an ‘up’ it is natural that there will be a ‘down’ and whatever you do on the way there, you will do in reverse on the return.

A big fat bacon butty at The Beach Hut, South Milton Sands, and then on to The Hope and Anchor for a pint of well earned Tribute. So many dogs to meet and play with, and what a big adventure. Rolo was very interested in the Lifeboat Station at Hope Cove and thinks it may possibly feature in book 3 of his Secret Adventures.
