A deer surprise!

After today’s thorough dampness Rolo and I set out at 7pm in bright evening sunshine; the smell of rain and freshness in the air and all the spring blossom dashed to the ground. We walked along Manton Lane; the geese were honking as they paddled the fields and the blackbirds singing their little heads off to encourage the late sunshine. Suddenly I sensed movement a few feet away behind the fence and I grabbed Rolo and found myself face to face with a young brown eyed deer. We locked eyes for a moment…Rolo seemed unaware…and then she was gone. It was a moment…
