One minute Rolo and I were doing the crossword and eating greengages (well I was!) then we were asleep in conservatory with the warm September sunshine streaming in through the glass…the next minute, walking boots on, (again me, not Rolo) we were striding through the fields behind Marlborough College and up and over the top, through freshly ploughed flint strewn fields, and eventually dropping down into Manton via the Drove. Far too nice an afternoon to be wasted indoors! Discovered a newly re-opened footpath past Manton Mill which bypasses the village and brings us out ready to cross the A4 and climb the short steep hill home. I love the views from the top, looking back towards the house.
