going rusty

Ok I know I was craving the smell of Summer rain but I’ve been home a week now and my tan is going rusty and the washing has been on the line 3 days and is now wetter than when it came out from the machine! I also confess to having put the heating on a couple of times…I don’t do cold any more! Enough moaning – I’m extremely happy to be home, and am enjoying life to the full, walking (when it’s not raining!), doing yoga in the conservatory, making new friends and enjoying unexpected pleasures such as witnessing an ancient ‘freedom of the town’ ceremony in Marlborough High Street complete with wigged dignataries and marching Regiments and military band. I do love a bit of pomp and ceremony and especially uniforms!

It’s been a good week of dragon protecting in Wiltshire too ….Firzmaurice School in Bradford on Avon were dragoned during assembly, and Walwayne Court (Trowbridge) was yesterdays visit with a very warm welcome. They even have a superb papiere mache dragon hanging up in the hall and were amazed to discover that there might be a real dragon hiding in their school! I have also spoken to the entire Year 7 at St Laurence secondary school and their theme was ‘inspiration’ – I shared the story of how ‘The Dragon’s Tale’ came into being; by seeing a dragon shaped children’s ride moving without anyone sitting on it which prompted the thought ‘ perhaps there’s a dragon hiding in there, building up steam and about to fly off to have an adventure….” and how John was advised to give up drawing at 14 as he had no talent for it. Thankfully that piece of advice was ignored!

Anyone coming over from sunnier climes please bring the sunshine that must have slipped out of my suitcase….
